Integrator note — 3RH1140-2BG40
Siemens SIRIUS auxiliary contactor 3RH1140-2BG40 is a size S00 relay block with four normally-open instantaneous contacts, no delayed or make-before-break switching. Rated AC-12 at 10 A, it handles resistive loads in control circuits — think PLC output isolation or contactor coil switching. Coil draws 3.2 W DC holding power, so no thermal nuisance on a crowded DIN rail; the 125 V DC coil sits within standard 110–125 V control buses. IP20 on the front means it's finger-safe inside an enclosure, not for wet areas.
Ratings and what they mean
AC-12 10 A is the resistive load rating — switching solenoids or contactor coils at up to 10 A. At 230 V the contactor is rated 6 A, at 400 V it drops to 3 A, at 690 V to 1 A. That derating follows the arc-extinction limit: higher voltage, lower current. The 24 V DC rating is 10 A, same as AC-12, so it works in 24 V control panels without derating. Mechanical life is 30 million operations; contact reliability is one failure per 100 million at 17 V, 1 mA — solid for low-level switching in PLC input circuits.
Mounting and integration
Screw and snap-on mounting for 35 mm DIN rail. Width 45 mm, height 60 mm, depth 73 mm — fits standard S00 footprint. Mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward, so it fits tight enclosures. Terminals accept 0.25 to 2.5 mm² solid or stranded wire. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial atmospheres with conductive dust or condensation.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Lifecycle stage is current — no phase-out notice. This is a standard catalog part in the SIRIUS family. Sourced to order against an RFQ; availability and current pricing confirmed at quote time. Compliance with RoHS substance prohibitance date 07/01/2006.
