What this SIRIUS coupling relay does

The 3RH2122-2JC40 is a SIRIUS coupling relay for switching auxiliary circuits — it isolates control signals between different voltage domains or logic families inside a panel, typically driven by a PLC output to switch a higher-current load or a different voltage level. The built-in diode surge suppressor clips the inductive kickback from the coil when the relay de-energises — without it, the back-EMF can couple into nearby 24 VDC sensor lines and cause false triggers.

Mechanical life and switching duty

Rated for 30 million mechanical operations typical — at 10,000 switching cycles per hour (AC), that works out to over 3000 hours of continuous cycling before the mechanism wears out, which is relevant for high-frequency pick-and-place or sorting lines where the relay cycles every few seconds.
