The Siemens 3RH2911-2NL40 is a front-mounted auxiliary switch block for the SIRIUS contactor family, delivering four normally-open instantaneous contacts — one of which is explicitly rated as solid-state compatible. That matters when you're switching PLC inputs, thin-film sensors, or signal-level loads where standard silver-alloy contacts can't reliably wet the circuit. The contact reliability spec backs this up: one incorrect switching operation per 100 million cycles at 5 V, 1 mA, which is the kind of low-energy signal a solid-state input presents. Wiring lands on spring-loaded terminals accepting 2x (0.5 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2x (20 to 14 AWG). No screw torque to check, no loosening from vibration — the cage clamp holds through the 5 million mechanical operating cycles typical service life. The block snaps onto contactor sizes S00, S0, S2, and S3 without tools, so it's a straight retrofit across a mixed panel.
Integration notes
Snap-on mounting onto the contactor front face — no DIN rail required, no additional bracket. The block adds 47.7 mm depth and 36 mm width to the contactor envelope; verify clearance inside shallow enclosures. Rated insulation voltage is 690 V at pollution degree 3, surge withstand 6 kV, so it's comfortable on 400 V line-fed panels without extra creepage distance. Operating temperature range -25 to +60 °C covers most indoor industrial environments. Front protection is IP20 — finger-safe but not washdown-rated.
Delta: 3RH2911-2NL40 vs. 3RH2131-2AK60
The 3RH2131-2AK60 is a full auxiliary contactor (3 NO + 1 NC, AC coil, screw and snap-on mount), not a bolt-on switch block. It occupies its own DIN-rail footprint at 73 mm depth × 45 mm width and requires its own coil power. The 3RH2911-2NL40 is a contactor accessory — it rides on the contactor face, draws no coil current, and adds only 47.7 mm depth. If your panel was laid out around a 3RH2131-2AK60, the 3RH2911-2NL40 will not drop in as a direct swap; the mounting method and wiring scheme are fundamentally different. The 3RH2911-2NL40 is the right choice when you need extra NO contacts on an existing contactor without adding a separate device to the rail.
