The Siemens 3RK1300-0AS10-1AA4 is an electronic reversing starter from the SIRIUS family, designed for ET 200X distributed I/O environments. The setting range covers 0.6 to 2.18 A, corresponding to motor ratings of 0.18 to 0.8 kW at AC-3 duty on a 400 V supply. The solid-state switching contacts mean no mechanical wear on the main poles, and the integrated motor protection eliminates the need for a separate overload relay — the unit handles both reversing and overload protection in one package.
The AC-3 rating of 0.8 kW at 400 V defines the maximum induction motor load this starter can handle under normal starting and stopping conditions. That covers small conveyors, pumps, and fan drives up to about 1 HP. The minimum setting of 0.18 kW means it can also protect fractional-horsepower motors down to 0.25 HP, which is useful for small feed drives or agitators. This is a coordination value — the upstream fuse must be selected per the manufacturer's guidelines to ensure the solid-state output is not damaged during a short circuit. Operating voltage range 400 to 500 V AC. DC control voltage means brake output and logic supply require a DC source. The IP65 protection class means the housing is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. This allows mounting in washdown areas or outdoors without a separate cabinet, as long as the cable glands and connectors are also rated for the environment.
Integration and connectivity
PROFIBUS DP communication is built in (product function bus communication: Yes), so the starter can exchange status, diagnostics, and control commands directly with a PLC over the fieldbus without a separate gateway. This is the main differentiator from a conventional reversing contactor — you get remote monitoring of motor current, thermal state, and fault codes. The main current circuit connects via tab terminals, which are common on distributed I/O modules like ET 200X. The unit includes a motor brake output (product component motor brake output: Yes) rated DC 500 V / 1 A, allowing direct control of a holding brake on vertical-axis drives without an external relay. Ambient temperature range during operation is 0 to 55 °C. If mounted in a non-ventilated enclosure near other heat sources, derate the continuous current or add forced ventilation to stay within the thermal limits of the solid-state output stage.
