Reversing starter for ET 200 X — what it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RK1300-0ES01-1AA1 is an electromechanical reversing starter from the SIRIUS family, designed for the ET 200 X distributed I/O system. It integrates motor starting, reversing, and overload protection in one IP65-rated enclosure — meaning it mounts directly on the machine or in a fieldbox without a separate panel. The setting range of 0.28 to 0.4 A (full-scale value 0.4 A) covers small motors up to 0.1 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty, so it handles reversing conveyor sections, actuator drives, or valve positioning where space is tight. The built-in motor brake output (DC 24 V / 3 A) supplies an externally sourced brake — common for holding brakes on vertical-axis motors or quick-stop applications. Communication runs over PROFIBUS DP, so the starter integrates directly into a PROFIBUS network without a separate gateway. The short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 V is 50 A, which means the unit can clear a fault up to that level without upstream device damage, assuming proper coordination.
Where it fits in a panel or machine
This starter is part of the ET 200 X family — a modular field-mount system that lives in IP65/IP67 enclosures on the machine frame, not in a central cabinet. The dimensions (270 mm high, 140 mm wide, 134 mm deep) match the ET 200 X form factor; it snaps onto the same backplane bus as other ET 200 X modules. Main current connections use tab terminals (fast-on), typical for field-mount distributed starters. The operating temperature range is 0 to 55 °C, so it is fine for most factory-floor environments without active cooling.
