What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RK1300-0GS01-0AA0 is an EM 300 DS electro-mechanical direct starter designed for the ET 200X distributed I/O system. It combines a motor starter, bimetal overload protection, and PROFIBUS DP communication in a single IP65 enclosure — so it mounts directly on the machine, not in a central panel. The setting range covers 0.45 to 0.63 A, good for a 0.18 kW motor at 400 V AC-3 duty.
Fit and ratings — what matters for the BOM
This starter is sized for small induction motors up to 0.18 kW at 400 V AC-3. The bimetal overload is factory-set to the 0.45–0.63 A band, so you dial in the full-load current of the motor, not the breaker trip curve. IP65 means the whole assembly handles washdown and dust — no separate enclosure needed on a conveyor or packaging line. The tab terminals for the main circuit accept standard fast-on connectors; wire it into the 9-pole motor feeder and 9-pole power connection that come with the unit. PROFIBUS DP is onboard, so the starter talks directly to the controller without an extra gateway. That saves a slot in the remote I/O cabinet and cuts wiring. The 134 mm depth and 140 mm width fit the ET 200X mounting footprint — drops onto the same backplane as the I/O modules.
