Direct starter for distributed motor control
The Siemens 3RK1300-0HS01-0AA4 is an EM 300 DS electromechanical direct starter designed for the ET 200X distributed I/O system. It integrates a bimetal motor protection relay, a switching contactor, and bus communication into a single IP65-rated enclosure, so it mounts directly on the machine frame or conveyor line without a separate control panel. The setting range of 0.55 to 0.8 A covers small three-phase motors up to 0.21 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty — the standard motor-starting category per IEC 60947-4-1. That 0.21 kW figure is the AC-3 rating, meaning it handles the inrush of a squirrel-cage induction motor during starting and the full-load current during running. Operating voltage spans 400 to 500 V, and the short-circuit breaking capacity is rated at 50 A at 400 V. That SCCR figure governs the maximum fault current the device can safely interrupt; upstream protection must be coordinated so the available fault current does not exceed this value.
PROFIBUS DP and integrated brake output
This starter communicates over PROFIBUS DP, so it plugs into the ET 200X backplane and reports motor status, current draw, and fault conditions to the PLC without hardwiring each auxiliary contact. The bus connection also enables remote start/stop and reset commands. A motor brake output is built in — the part includes a brake contact rated DC 500 V / 1 A for internally supplied brakes. That saves an external brake rectifier or relay when the motor has a spring-applied brake that releases when power is applied.
IP65 enclosure for washdown environments
Rated IP65, the housing is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. This suits food-and-beverage lines, packaging machinery, or any area where the starter gets hosed down during cleaning cycles. Dimensions are 270 mm high, 140 mm wide, and 134 mm deep — a compact footprint for a device that combines contactor, overload relay, bus interface, and brake output in one package. The main current circuit connects via tab terminals, which mate with the ET 200X power distribution module. Ambient operating temperature range is 0 to 55 °C, so it works in unconditioned factory-floor cabinets but not in freezers or outdoor direct-sun locations without additional thermal management.
