The Siemens 3RK1300-1DS01-0AA3 is an EM 300 DS electromechanical direct starter designed for the ET 200X distributed I/O system. It integrates a contactor, bimetal motor protection, and short-circuit protection via circuit breakers into a single IP65-rated enclosure, so it lives directly on the machine or conveyor section without a separate control cabinet. The setting range covers 2.2 to 3.2 A, with an AC-3 motor rating of 1.1 kW at 400 V. Operating voltage is 400 to 500 V DC for the control supply. That 1.1 kW figure is the maximum motor power the bimetal relay can protect under AC-3 duty — a 1.5 kW motor would trip the overload on startup current. It communicates over PROFIBUS DP, which means the starter can be addressed and monitored directly from the PLC without hardwired control wires. The built-in brake contact handles internally supplied DC brakes through the 9-pole motor feeder — a common requirement for holding brakes on vertical-axis motors or conveyors.
Dimensions and mounting
The housing measures 134 mm deep, 140 mm wide, and 270 mm high. It bolts directly to a machine frame or sub-panel; there is no DIN-rail clip. The IP65 rating means the enclosure seals against dust and low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown areas or dusty environments, but not submersion. Main current connections use tab terminals, not screw clamps. Verify your motor feeder cable ends match the tab width before terminating. The 9-pole power connection carries both motor phases and the brake circuit in one plug.
