What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RK1300-1HS01-0AA3 is an EM 300 DS electromechanical direct starter designed for the ET 200X distributed I/O family. It provides motor starting and bimetal overload protection for a 3 kW motor at 400 V AC-3 duty, with a setting range of 5.5 to 8 A. The unit includes a motor brake output for internally supplied brakes, and communicates over PROFIBUS DP. Rated for an operating voltage of 400 to 500 V, the starter uses electromechanical switching contacts and relies on upstream circuit-breakers for short-circuit protection, with a maximum breaking capacity (Icu) of 50 A at 400 V.
Where it fits
This direct starter is intended for distributed motor control in an ET 200X remote I/O station. Its IP65 protection class allows deployment in washdown or dusty environments without an additional enclosure. The main circuit connects via tab terminals, and the unit measures 140 mm wide, 270 mm high, and 134 mm deep — sized to fit the ET 200X backplane footprint. The ambient operating range of 0 to 55 °C covers most industrial panel conditions. The DC voltage type for the control circuit means the coil and brake output are DC-powered, consistent with the ET 200X bus supply.
