What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RK1300-1HS01-1AA1 is an electromechanical reversing starter from the SIRIUS EM 300 RS family, designed for the ET 200 X distributed I/O system. It handles motor reversing and overload protection in a single IP65-rated enclosure — meaning it can be mounted directly on the machine frame or in a field-distribution cabinet without a separate control panel. The PROFIBUS DP interface allows the starter to be addressed directly from the PLC, eliminating discrete control wiring for forward/reverse commands.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
Rated for AC-3 duty at 3 kW / 400 V — that is the motor-switching rating for a standard three-phase induction motor up to 3 kW. The setting range of 5.5...8.0 A means you dial in the full-load current of the motor within that window; the bimetal overload relay inside provides thermal protection. The AC-3 rating is the one that governs real motor starting (high inrush, switching under load), not a resistive-heater rating. Short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu) at 400 V is 50 A, limited by the built-in circuit-breaker-style protection. That means the starter can safely interrupt a fault up to 50 A at 400 V without welding contacts or cascading damage upstream. For higher prospective fault currents, an upstream fuse or MCCB is required. The integrated motor brake output (DC 24 V / 3 A) is for an externally supplied holding brake — common on vertical-axis conveyors or gantries where the load must hold position when power is removed. The 9-pole motor feeder and 9-pole power connection handle the motor leads plus brake wiring in a single plug. IP65 protection means the housing is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown zones in food processing or outdoor installation under a canopy. The operating ambient temperature of 0...55 °C covers most industrial floor conditions without derating.
Sourcing and lifecycle
For a BOM line that calls out this exact part, the fit is confirmed by the AC-3 rating, setting range, and PROFIBUS DP protocol. If the panel design requires a different fieldbus (e.g. AS-Interface), note that this variant does not support AS-interface — only PROFIBUS DP.
Integration notes
Mounts directly to the ET 200 X backplane or as a standalone IP65 unit. Dimensions are 140 mm wide, 270 mm high, 134 mm deep — allow clearance for the 9-pole power connector and PROFIBUS DP cable entry at the bottom. Tab terminals on the main circuit accept fork or ring crimp lugs; strip length per Siemens guidelines. The PROFIBUS DP address is set via the rotary switches on the front. Cycle the 24 VDC supply after changing the address. The brake output is internally fused; replace only with the same rating.
