Electromechanical reversing starter for ET 200X — what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3RK1300-1JS01-1AA1 is an electromechanical reversing starter from the SIRIUS family, designed as part of the ET 200X distributed I/O system. It integrates a reversing contactor, bimetal motor protection, and a brake output into a single IP65 enclosure — meaning it mounts directly on the machine frame or conveyor section, not inside a central panel. The IP65 rating lets it handle washdown environments on food-and-bev or packaging lines without a separate cabinet. The setting range of 7.0 to 10 A and AC-3 motor rating of 4.0 kW at 400 V define the load it can switch: small three-phase induction motors up to that power, typical for conveyor drives, small pumps, or indexing tables. The bimetal overload protection tracks motor heating — set it to the motor's full-load amps within that 7-10 A window. The 50 A short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 V means the integrated circuit-breaker-style protection safely clears a fault up to that level without needing an upstream fuse for coordination. The built-in motor brake output supplies DC 24 V / 3 A for an externally supplied holding brake — critical for vertical-axis loads that must hold position when power is removed. The PROFIBUS DP protocol lets it communicate directly with a PLC over the fieldbus, so reversing commands and fault status travel over the network rather than hardwired control wires.
Integration into an ET 200X node — dimensions and connections
The enclosure measures 134 mm deep, 140 mm wide, and 270 mm high. It connects to the motor feeder and power supply via tab terminals — the 9-pole motor feeder and 9-pole power connection are part of the assembly, so wiring is a matter of plugging the pre-terminated cables rather than landing individual conductors. The operating voltage range of 400 to 500 V AC covers standard European 400 V three-phase networks and 480 V North American systems. Ambient temperature during operation is 0 to 55 °C — adequate for most ventilated machine-mounted enclosures but not for direct sun exposure or foundry heat.
