What it is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RK1315-6LS41-1AA0 is a reversing motor starter — a self-contained unit that handles forward and reverse motor control in a single enclosure, saving panel space over two separate contactors and overloads. It is rated for 5.5 kW at 400 V (7.5 hp at 460/480 V, 10 hp at 575/600 V) and carries a CLASS 10 trip curve, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — standard for protecting standard induction motors during stall or jam conditions. The unit is IP65-rated, so the enclosure and all connections are protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown environments or outdoor installation without a secondary cabinet. It communicates via AS-Interface (the only fieldbus protocol on board; no PROFIBUS or PROFINET), with device addressing through an M12 plug. The main circuit connects via a HAN Q4/2 plug per ISO 23570, and it includes 4 digital inputs for local control signals.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw fixing in any orientation — vertical, horizontal, or flat — though horizontal is recommended for optimal thermal performance. Dimensions are 294 mm wide, 215 mm high, and 159 mm deep. The supply voltage is 24 VDC nominal (20.4 to 28.8 V range, maximum permissible 31.6 V). Operating temperature range is -25 to +55 °C, with storage and transport from -40 to +70 °C. Shock resistance is 12g for 11 ms, vibration resistance is 7 mm / 2g — robust enough for most industrial machinery, including conveyors and pumps.
