What this SIRIUS reversing starter is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RK1315-6NS71-1AA5 is a reversing motor starter — a self-contained unit that combines a contactor, overload relay, and reversing interlock in one IP65 enclosure. It handles motor loads up to 4 kW at 400 V and 5 hp at 460/480 V, with a CLASS 10 trip curve that protects standard induction motors against prolonged overload without nuisance tripping on startup. The 24 V DC control supply accepts 20.4 to 28.8 V, with a maximum permissible of 31.6 V and a minimum of 26.5 V — the 26.5 V floor is the dropout threshold to watch when sizing the DC bus. AS-Interface protocol handles the fieldbus link; addressing is done through the M12 plug. Four digital inputs are available for local control signals. The reversing starter is designed for applications requiring forward/reverse motor direction — conveyors, hoists, gate drives — and mounts in any orientation: vertical, horizontal, or flat. Screw fixing is the fastening method.
IP65 and the deployment environment
Rated IP65, the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. That makes it suitable for washdown areas in food-and-bev lines, outdoor conveyor sections, or anywhere a panel-mounted starter would be exposed to hose-down cleaning. The operating temperature range of -25 to +55 °C covers most plant-floor conditions; storage and transport range extends to -40 to +70 °C.
Dimensions and panel fit
The enclosure measures 294 mm wide, 215 mm high, and 159 mm deep. These dimensions govern the gland-plate layout and the space needed on a sub-panel or machine frame. The main circuit connects via a HAN Q4/2 plug per ISO 23570; the control and AS-Interface connection is through the M12 plug.
