The Siemens 3RK1322-0BS02-0AA1 is an AS-i compact starter — an electromechanical DOL direct starter with bimetal motor protection, built into an IP65-rated enclosure for direct on-machine mounting. It's designed for small motor loads up to 0.06 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty, with a setting range of 0.14 to 0.2 A.
The AC-3 rating of 0.06 kW at 400 V is the motor-switching capacity — this starter handles small induction motors like those on dosing pumps, small conveyors, or valve actuators. The setting range of 0.14–0.2 A matches the full-load current of those motors; the bimetal overload relay provides thermal protection. This is high for a compact starter and means it can be used on high-capacity distribution boards without needing upstream current-limiting fuses. It includes a motor brake output (24 V DC / 3 A), so it can directly control a holding brake on a vertical-axis motor — useful for hoists or tilt tables where the load must not drift when power is off. Two integrated inputs allow connection of limit switches or sensors directly to the AS-i bus without extra I/O modules, saving a terminal box and wiring.
AS-interface and connectivity
Communication is via AS-interface protocol (not PROFIBUS DP), so it plugs into an AS-i network with a single flat cable for both power and data. The main circuit connections use tab terminals — quick-connect spade lugs, not screw clamps — which speeds field wiring but requires the correct tab receptacles on your motor and supply cables. The IP65 enclosure has a 9-pole motor outgoing feeder and a 9-pole power connection, so the cable gland and connector arrangement is pre-defined. Dimensions are 270 mm high, 120 mm wide, 190 mm deep — allow clearance for the cable bend radius on the tab terminals.
