AS-i compact reversing starter for distributed motor control
The Siemens 3RK1322-0BS02-1AA4 is an AS-interface compact reversing starter in the SIRIUS family, designed for distributed motor control in IP65-rated enclosures — no separate panel needed. It integrates an electromechanical reversing contactor, a bimetal overload relay set to 0.14…0.2 A, and short-circuit protection via circuit-breakers, all in one 120 x 270 x 190 mm package. Rated at 0.06 kW AC-3 at 400 V, this starter handles small reversing loads — conveyors, diverters, gate drives — where space is tight and wiring needs to stay local. The built-in AS-interface bus communication eliminates parallel control wiring: the starter receives run/reverse commands and returns status over the same two-wire flat cable. Two integrated inputs accept local sensors or pushbuttons, and the motor brake output handles a 500 V DC / 1 A brake coil directly.
The 0.14…0.2 A setting range governs the bimetal overload — it must match the motor full-load amps. At 0.06 kW AC-3, the starter is sized for small three-phase motors up to that power at 400 V. Tab terminals for the main circuit require mating 6.3 mm or 4.8 mm fast-on connectors — not screw terminals. Factor that into panel wiring if your standard is ring lugs.
Deployment context
Mounts via the integral fixing lugs onto a machine frame or sub-panel; the IP65 housing allows outdoor or washdown placement without a separate enclosure. The 9-pole motor and power connectors are pre-wired with tab terminals — dress the cables with strain relief to avoid pulling on the fast-ons. Ambient operating range -25 to +55 °C covers most industrial floors but derate if the starter is in direct sunlight or near a heat source. The DC brake output is rated 500 V DC / 1 A — verify the brake coil voltage and current before connecting.
