AS-i Compact Reversing Starter for Distributed Motor Control
The Siemens 3RK1322-0BS12-1AA3 is an AS-interface compact reversing starter designed for distributed motor control in IP65-rated enclosures, eliminating the need for a separate control cabinet on the line. It provides solid-state motor protection and solid-state switching, covering a setting range of 2 to 5.95 A, which translates to an AC-3 motor power rating of 0.75 to 2.2 kW at 400 V — sized for small conveyors, pumps, and reversing drives on a production line.
The integrated motor brake output (400 V AC) handles internally supplied brakes directly, saving an external brake rectifier or contactor when the motor has a brake coil. Communication runs on AS-interface protocol (no PROFIBUS DP), so it fits into an AS-i network segment with a single two-wire cable carrying both power and data — typical for distributed I/O architectures in material handling. The main current circuit connects via tab terminals (9-pole power/energy connection) with two integrated inputs, simplifying field wiring compared to screw-clamp terminals.
