AS-i Compact DOL Starter for Distributed Motor Control
The Siemens 3RK1322-0DS02-0AA0 is an AS-interface compact direct-on-line starter from the SIRIUS family, designed for distributed motor control in washdown or dusty environments. It's an electromechanical DOL starter with bimetal motor protection and integrated short-circuit protection via circuit-breakers, all sealed in an IP65 enclosure that handles hose-down cleaning on food, beverage, or packaging lines. Rated at 0.09 kW in AC-3 duty at 400 V, it switches small three-phase motors — pumps, fans, conveyors — up to that load. The setting range of 0.22 to 0.32 A means you dial the overload relay to match the motor full-load current within that window; outside it, you need a different setting range variant. Communication runs over AS-interface (AS-i protocol onboard, no PROFIBUS DP), so it drops into an AS-i network segment directly. Two integrated inputs let you wire limit switches or proximity sensors local to the starter without a separate I/O block.
What the Ratings Mean for Fit
The 50 kA short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 V means this starter can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream devices needing to clear it — important for high-fault-capacity installations where a standard starter would require a current-limiting fuse ahead of it. Tab terminals on the main current circuit (not screw terminals) mate with fast-on connectors; verify your motor and power cables have the mating tab receptacles before panel assembly. The 9-pole motor outgoing feeder and 9-pole power connection are specific to the Siemens AS-i compact system — not a standard IEC terminal block layout. Ambient temperature range of -25 to +55 °C covers most indoor industrial environments but not freezer or high-heat foundry applications. The IP65 rating means the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against water jets — suitable for washdown zones but not submersion.
Panel Integration Notes
The 190 mm depth, 120 mm width, and 270 mm height define the envelope for enclosure layout. This is a standalone IP65 housing — not a DIN-rail module — so it mounts directly to a backplate or machine frame via its own fixing points. Leave clearance for the 9-pole connectors and AS-i cable entry. No motor brake output on this variant (product component motor brake output = No). If the driven load requires a holding brake, you need the version with brake contact or an external brake relay.
