AS-i compact starter for distributed motor control
The Siemens 3RK1322-0DS02-0AA1 is an electromechanical direct-on-line (DOL) starter in a compact IP65 housing, designed for distributed motor control via AS-interface. It integrates a bimetal overload relay, short-circuit protection via circuit-breakers, and a motor brake output — all in one field-mounted unit that communicates over the AS-i bus. Rated at 0.09 kW at AC-3 duty on 400 V, with a setting range of 0.22 to 0.32 A, this starter handles small three-phase motors — typical for conveyor drives, small pumps, or valve actuators in washdown zones. The IP65 enclosure means it lives on the machine, not in a panel, so you save cabinet space and wiring runs. The 50 kA short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 V (Icu) gives solid fault clearance for most industrial distribution systems without needing upstream fuses to limit the let-through. Ambient range -25 to +55 °C covers unheated production floors and outdoor enclosures.
Integration and wiring notes
Main current circuit connects via tab terminals — no screw terminals on the power side, so plan for fast-on connectors or a mating tab receptacle. The 9-pole motor outgoing feeder and 9-pole power connection are fixed; the two integrated inputs (24 V DC, 3 A) handle local sensors or pushbuttons. Dimensions are 270 mm high, 120 mm wide, 190 mm deep — a compact footprint for a motor starter with integrated bus communication and brake output. Mounts directly to the machine frame or a sub-panel via the IP65 housing; no DIN rail required.
