AS-i Compact DOL Starter for Decentralized Motor Control
The Siemens 3RK1322-0FS02-0AA1 is an AS-interface compact direct starter (DOL) in an IP65 enclosure, designed for decentralized motor control right at the machine — no separate control cabinet needed. It covers a setting range of 0.35 to 0.5 A, delivering 0.12 kW at 400 V in AC-3 duty, which means it handles standard three-phase squirrel-cage motors up to that power. The electromechanical switching contact and bimetal motor protection are built in, with a 24 V DC / 3 A brake contact included for holding brakes on vertical-axis drives.
IP65 — Mount It on the Machine Frame
Dimensions are 120 mm wide by 270 mm high by 190 mm deep. The main current circuit connects via tab terminals, and the 9-pole motor outgoing feeder and power connection are pre-configured for quick plug-in wiring. Two integrated inputs allow local pushbuttons or sensors to be wired without an extra I/O block.
AS-Interface Communication with Integrated Brake Control
This starter communicates over AS-interface protocol (no PROFIBUS DP), carrying control signals and diagnostics over the yellow flat cable. The built-in motor brake output switches 24 V DC at 3 A, so a holding brake is driven directly from the starter — no separate relay needed. Short-circuit protection is handled by upstream circuit-breakers; the unit itself has a breaking capacity of 50,000 A at 400 V, giving solid SCCR headroom for fault-current coordination studies.
