The Siemens 3RK1322-0JS02-0AA0 is an AS-interface compact direct starter from the SIRIUS family — an electromechanical DOL starter with bimetal motor protection, rated for 0.25 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty. The setting range spans 0.7 to 1 A, and the short-circuit breaking capacity hits 50 kA at 400 V, meaning it can interrupt a fault up to that level without the fault cascading upstream in the distribution. It carries a full IP65 rating, so the housing and optics withstand washdown environments — suitable for food-and-bev lines or any area where hosed cleaning is standard. The operating temperature range is -25 to +55 °C, covering most factory-floor conditions without derating. Communication runs over AS-interface protocol, not PROFIBUS DP, with bus communication capability built in. Two integrated inputs are available for local sensors or pushbuttons, and the motor outgoing feeder uses a 9-pole connector with tab terminals for the main current circuit.
Integration into a panel or line
The housing measures 120 mm wide by 270 mm high by 190 mm deep, which is a compact footprint for an IP65-rated enclosure with integrated motor protection and bus communication. It mounts directly in the field — not on a DIN rail inside a cabinet — so the IP65 rating governs the installation environment. Tab terminals on the main current circuit accept standard quick-connect wiring; the 9-pole motor and power connectors handle the motor cable and AS-i bus drop in one assembly.
