AS-i compact reversing starter with brake contact
The Siemens 3RK1322-1BS02-1AA1 is an AS-i compact reversing starter from the SIRIUS family, designed for direct-on-line reversing of small motors up to 0.75 kW at AC-3 duty on a 400 V supply. It integrates a bimetal overload relay, short-circuit protection via circuit-breakers, and a motor brake output (24 V DC / 3 A) in a single IP65 enclosure — meaning it can be mounted directly on the machine frame or conveyor section without a separate control cabinet, as long as the environment stays within -25 to +55 °C. The setting range of 1.4 to 2 A covers the full-load current of a 0.75 kW motor at 400 V; the 50 kA breaking capacity (Icu at 400 V) means it safely clears a fault up to that level without upstream fuses needing to coordinate — a real advantage in high-fault-capacity industrial networks.
Fieldbus and control integration
Communication is over AS-interface (AS-i protocol), not PROFIBUS DP, so this starter is a natural fit for AS-i sensor/actuator loops common in material handling and packaging lines. Two integrated inputs allow local limit switches or pushbuttons to be wired directly, reducing the number of remote I/O nodes. The main circuit connects via tab terminals — expect a 9-pole motor outgoing feeder and a 9-pole power connection as described in the product description.
