The Siemens 3RK1322-1CS02-0AA0 is an AS-i compact direct starter — a fully enclosed, IP65-rated motor starting unit that combines a contactor, bimetal overload relay, and short-circuit protection into one field-mounted package. It's designed for distributed motor control on AS-Interface networks, eliminating the need for a central control panel for small motor branches. Rated for 0.9 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty, the setting range covers 1.8 to 2.5 A, making it suitable for small three-phase motors like those driving conveyors, fans, or pumps in decentralized layouts.
The 1.8–2.5 A setting range matches the full-load current of a 0.75–0.9 kW motor at 400 V; the bimetal overload tracks motor heating directly, so you set it to the motor nameplate FLA. Tab terminals for the main circuit mean you need mating 6.3 mm fast-on receptacles — not screw clamps. The 9-pole motor and power connectors are pre-wired; the two integrated inputs let you connect local sensors (e.g., limit switches or emergency stops) directly into the AS-i node without extra I/O blocks.
Integration notes
The 190 mm depth, 120 mm width, and 270 mm height (–) define the envelope for machine-mounted installation. It's not a DIN-rail device — it bolts directly to a mounting plate or machine frame. The AS-i bus connection uses the standard yellow flat cable; the two integrated inputs are M12, typically for PNP sensors. No PROFIBUS DP onboard — this is strictly AS-Interface. If your network is PROFIBUS, you'd need a gateway. The motor brake output is absent, so separate brake control is required for holding-brake motors.
