AS-Interface compact direct starter, IP65, 1.8–2.5 A
The Siemens 3RK1322-1CS02-0AA4 is an AS-Interface compact direct starter — a self-contained motor start/stop unit in an IP65 enclosure, rated for 0.9 kW at AC-3 / 400 V with a setting range of 1.8 to 2.5 A. It's an electromechanical DOL starter with bimetal motor protection and integrated short-circuit protection via circuit-breakers, so it handles both overload and fault current in one package. Communication is over AS-Interface (AS-i) protocol, not PROFIBUS DP, so this unit plugs directly into an AS-i yellow cable loop. It carries two integrated inputs for local sensors (e.g., limit switches or emergency-stop buttons) and a motor brake output rated at 500 V DC / 1 A — useful for holding brakes on vertical-axis motors. The 9-pole motor outgoing feeder and 9-pole power connection mean the wiring harness is pre-configured; you terminate the AS-i flat cable and the motor cable, not individual control wires. For a distributed starter mounted on a machine frame rather than inside a switchgear panel, that SCCR headroom is the difference between a coordinated trip and a blown-open housing.
Dimensions are 120 mm wide × 270 mm high × 190 mm deep. The IP65 housing is designed for direct machine-mounting — bolt it to the frame or a mounting plate, run the AS-i flat cable and motor cable, and you're done.
