AS-i compact direct starter for distributed motor control
The Siemens 3RK1322-1FS02-0AA4 is an AS-i compact direct starter — a fully integrated motor start-and-protect unit for distributed automation. It combines a DOL (direct-on-line) electromechanical contactor, bimetal overload relay, and AS-interface bus communication in one IP65 enclosure rated for washdown environments. The setting range covers 3.5 to 5 A, delivering 1.9 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty (motor switching), with a short-circuit breaking capacity of 50 kA at 400 V. A built-in brake contact rated 500 V DC / 1 A handles DC braking for motors that need controlled deceleration. Two integrated inputs allow local sensors or pushbuttons to be wired directly, saving a separate I/O block.
Integration notes
The unit measures 190 mm deep × 120 mm wide × 270 mm high. Main power connects via tab terminals; the AS-i bus and sensor inputs use the integrated 9-pole connectors. Ambient operating range is -25 to +55 °C, so it can sit near a motor on a hot line without derating. The brake output is rated 500 V DC / 1 A — check that your brake coil current and voltage stay within that limit.
