The Siemens 3RK1323-6DS71-1AA3 is a reversing starter in an IP65 enclosure, designed for direct-on-line reversing of three-phase motors up to 12 A in AC-3 duty at 400 V. That 12 A AC-3 rating is the motor-switching current — the number that governs whether it handles your conveyor, pump, or fan without welding contacts on break. The solid-state switching contacts mean no arc erosion over millions of cycles, which matters in frequent-reversing applications like indexing conveyors or shuttle tables. The supply voltage range is 400...500 V AC, and it includes brake control for 400 V AC brakes — a common requirement on motorized rollers or vertical-axis drives.
This is not a DIN-rail component — it's an IP65 field-mount unit. The enclosure measures 250 mm high, 130 mm wide, and 107 mm deep. Mounting is via the enclosure base; plan for gland-plate entry on the bottom face. Power and communication come through AS-i shaped cables using the cutting/clamping method — no separate bus coupler needed for the AS-interface network. The main energy infeed and load-side outgoing feeder both use sockets per ISO 23570, so the wiring pattern is consistent across the line. Two digital inputs are on M12 sockets, parameterizable for different sensor types. There are no digital outputs on this variant — reversing and brake control are handled internally. The front addressing socket lets you set the AS-i address without opening the enclosure.
