Reversing starter for motor control
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RK1395-6LS41-1AD5 is a reversing motor starter rated for 5.5 kW at 400 V AC (12 A) and 7.5 hp at 460/480 V, with selectable Trip Class 5, 10, 15, or 20 to match motor thermal protection to the load profile. The IP65 enclosure means it handles washdown environments — suitable for food-and-bev or outdoor conveyor lines without a separate cabinet. It is a reversing starter, so it can change motor rotation direction directly, and it supports reverse starting per the spec.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 12 A at 400 V AC rating is the continuous current the main contacts carry in AC-3 duty (motor starting/switching). The 5.5 kW at 400 V and 7.5 hp at 460/480 V tell you the maximum motor size this starter can handle at those voltages — match it to your motor nameplate. Trip Class selection (5, 10, 15, 20) lets you tune the overload relay's thermal curve: Class 10 for standard motors, Class 20 for high-inertia loads like fans or centrifuges that take longer to start. The 85 ms ON-delay and 65 ms OFF-delay are fixed timing for the control logic, not adjustable.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw fixing (not DIN rail) in vertical, horizontal, or flat orientation — the recommended mounting position is horizontal. Dimensions: 294 mm wide, 215 mm high, 148 mm deep. The main circuit connects via a HAN Q4/2 plug per ISO 23570, so panel wiring uses a pre-wired connector rather than hard terminals. Four digital inputs and two digital outputs are onboard for control signals. The 24 V DC supply range (20.4–28.8 V) powers the control electronics.
