What this SIRIUS reversing starter does
The Siemens 3RK1395-6LS71-1AD5 is a SIRIUS reversing motor starter rated 12 A at 400 V AC, good for 5.5 kW motor loads at that voltage. It's a reversing starter design, meaning it handles forward/reverse direction control for a motor in one compact package — no need to build that circuit from two separate contactors and a mechanical interlock. You get four digital inputs and two digital outputs onboard, all running on a 20.4 to 28.8 V DC control supply. The IP65 enclosure means this can mount right out on the machine frame, not buried in a sealed panel, and still shrug off washdown spray. Trip class is selectable — CLASS 5, 10, 15, or 20 — so you match the overload protection to the motor's starting characteristics. A high-inertia load that takes longer to spin up gets CLASS 20; a pump that starts quickly can use CLASS 10. That's a real advantage over fixed-trip starters when you're stocking one unit for different motor types.
