AS-Interface I/O module for control-cabinet integration
The Siemens 3RK1400-1CE01-0AA2 is a SlimLine S22.5 AS-Interface standard slave packing 4 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs into a 45 mm wide IP20 housing that snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail or mounts directly to a panel wall. Inputs are PNP transistor type with a switching level high minimum of 10 V; outputs are solid-state, each rated up to 200 mA at 40 °C ambient, with a total aggregate current of 4 A across the module. An external auxiliary supply (AUX POWER) of 20 to 30 V DC is required for the output circuits, and must comply with VDE 0106 (PELV), protection class III — the module does not derive output power from the AS-Interface bus alone.
I/O mapping and diagnostics
The four I/O channels are mapped as D0 (IN1/OUT1), D1 (IN2/OUT2), D2 (IN3/OUT3), and D3 (IN4/OUT4). I/O configuration is set to 7, addressing is done via the front addressing socket. Diagnostics are visible through three LEDs: green for AS-Interface communication, yellow per-channel for I/O status, and red for fault indication. A built-in watchdog monitors bus communication. Short-circuit protection and induction protection are both built-in, so external fusing or snubbers on the output side are not required for basic protection.
Mounting and wiring
Fastening is via 35 mm standard rail mounting or wall mounting using push-in lugs. The housing measures 106 mm high, 45 mm wide, and 86 mm deep — a compact footprint for crowded control cabinets. Connection technology supports 2- and 3-wire sensors. Solid wire: 1 x (0.5–4) mm² or 2 x (0.5–2.5) mm²; with end sleeve: 1 x (0.5–2.5) mm² or 2 x (0.5–1.5) mm². AWG solid or stranded: 2 x (20–14).
