What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RK1400-1CQ00-0AA3 is a K60 compact digital I/O module designed for field-mounting at IP67, meaning it handles washdown environments and direct exposure on a machine frame without an enclosure. It provides 4 PNP inputs and 4 outputs, each accessible via standard M12 sockets, with the input circuit configured for PNP transistors. The module requires a 20 to 30 VDC sensor supply on PIN 1 and an external auxiliary power supply (20 to 30 VDC, PELV per VDE 0106) to drive the output circuits. This separate AUX POWER rail is a key integration point — it keeps the output drive isolated from the sensor supply, which simplifies fault isolation on the line.
Mounting and integration
Mounts on standard rail or wall via the K60 mounting plate (delivered separately). The 60 mm width and 29 mm depth fit a compact footprint on a DIN rail or directly on a machine profile. Each of the 8 M12 sockets maps a specific pinout: PIN 2 and 4 carry data input for IN1 through IN4, while PIN 4 alone carries the output signal for OUT1 through OUT4. PIN 5 on every socket ties to the grounding wrist strap in the mounting plate. Built-in watchdog, short-circuit protection, and induction suppression are included on the module, reducing the need for external protection components in the panel. Addressing is set via the front addressing socket, with a default ID/ID2 code of 0/F.
