Field I/O module for IP67 zones
The Siemens 3RK1400-1CT30-0AA3 is a K20 digital I/O module rated for 4 inputs and 4 outputs, with a maximum output current of 2 A at 40 °C ambient. It operates on a 16.5 to 30 V DC supply and requires an external 20 to 30 V DC auxiliary power source (PELV per VDE 0106, protection class III) to drive the output circuits — that external rail is mandatory, not optional. Rated IP67, the module mounts directly in the field without a separate enclosure. The 8 M12 sockets handle the I/O wiring: sockets 1–4 carry inputs (PIN 4 = IN1–IN4), sockets 5–8 carry outputs (PIN 4 = OUT1–OUT4). Addressing is set through the M12 female connector; the built-in watchdog and short-circuit protection are active on the output side.
Mounting and environmental limits
No mounting plate is required — the module fastens directly to the machine frame or a sub-panel. Dimensions are 20 mm wide, 164 mm high, 45 mm deep. Operating temperature range is -25 to +70 °C; storage range is -40 to +85 °C. Shock resistance is rated at 15 g for 11 ms. Inputs are PNP transistor type with a signal-1 threshold of 6 mA minimum and signal-0 leakage of 1.5 mA maximum. The module carries a built-in inductive load suppression diode on the outputs, so external flyback diodes are not needed for standard solenoid or relay loads.
