Field-mount I/O for wet or tight spaces
The Siemens 3RK1400-1DQ03-0AA3 is a K60 compact digital I/O module delivering 4 PNP inputs and 4 outputs in a sealed IP67 housing — rated for direct mounting on machine frames or in washdown zones without a secondary enclosure. It accepts 20-30 VDC on the input side, but an external auxiliary supply (20-30 VDC, PELV per VDE 0106) is required to power the output circuits — a common detail that catches first-time specifiers.
PNP inputs and M12 pinout
All four inputs are PNP transistor type, matching standard 3-wire proximity and photoelectric sensors. Each M12 socket carries the sensor supply on pin 1 (L+), data on pin 2/4, and ground on pin 3 (L-). The eight M12 sockets are pre-assigned: sockets 1-4 handle inputs IN1-IN4 on pins 2/4; sockets 5-8 handle outputs OUT1-OUT4 on pin 4 only. Pin 5 of every socket ties to the grounding wrist strap in the mounting plate.
Built-in protection and diagnostics
Short-circuit protection, induction suppression, and a watchdog timer are all integrated — no external suppression diodes or fuses needed per channel. A yellow LED per I/O and a green LED for auxiliary power give quick visual status. The module is rated for 15g shock at 11 ms and operates from -25 to +85 °C, with storage range from -40 to +85 °C.
Mounting and addressing
Mounts on standard DIN rail or directly to a wall using the K60 mounting plate (supplied separately — the module ships without it). Dimensions are 60 mm wide, 152 mm high, 29 mm deep. Addressing is set via a front socket; the ID/ID2 code is 0/F. The I/O configuration code is 7.
