ASIsafe module for safety circuits on AS-Interface
The Siemens 3RK1405-0BE00-0AA2 is an ASIsafe SlimLine module S22.5F that packs 2 safe digital inputs and 2 standard solid-state outputs into a 22.5 mm wide housing. It mounts on a standard DIN rail or wall, drawing power from the AS-Interface bus at 26.5 to 31.5 V DC. The inputs are designed for mechanical switching contacts only — think emergency-stop pushbuttons, interlock switches, or position sensors with dry contacts. Outputs are solid-state, short-circuit-proof, and supplied via the AS-Interface bus, so no external 24 V DC is needed for the output side.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 22.5 mm width is the key panel-space number — it matches the SlimLine footprint, so it slots into a standard DIN-rail assembly without stealing extra width from adjacent I/O or contactor rows. IP20 means it belongs inside an enclosure; no washdown or outdoor exposure. The safe inputs are rated for mechanical contacts only, so don't wire in a 3-wire proximity sensor expecting it to work — the module looks for contact-open (Low) and contact-closed (High) levels, drawing 5 mA minimum at the High signal. The built-in watchdog and short-circuit protection on the outputs mean the module self-monitors; you don't need external fusing on the output side for typical loads. Operating temperature range of -20 to +70 °C covers most panel environments, and storage range of -40 to +85 °C handles shipping and warehouse conditions.
Panel integration and wiring
Screw terminals on the I/O side accept standard conductors. The module addresses via a front addressing socket with ID/ID2 code B/F. I/O status is shown by yellow LEDs for the digital I/O, and a green/red LED for AS-Interface bus and diagnostics. The 91 mm depth and 101.6 mm height mean it fits standard 100 mm deep enclosures with clearance for wiring. Fastening is standard rail mounting or wall mounting.
