The Siemens 3RK1901-1GA01 is an AS-Interface overvoltage protection module designed for lightning protection zone 2, meaning it clamps transients before they reach downstream AS-i nodes. Rated 10 kA on the core-PG path and 0.5 kA core-core, it handles direct lightning-induced surges on the AS-i cable pair without passing the energy through to the slaves. IP67 rated, so the module body and its sealed connections tolerate washdown and outdoor exposure — suitable for food-and-bev lines, conveyor sections, or any area where hose-down cleaning is routine. The module does not require its own AS-Interface address — it sits transparently on the bus, detecting overvoltage events without consuming a node slot. That keeps the address count free for actual sensors and actuators.
Integration notes
Dimensions: 25 mm depth, 45 mm width, 80 mm height. Operating temperature range -25 to +85 °C; storage range -40 to +85 °C. The wide storage span means it can sit in a spare-parts bin in an unheated warehouse without issue. Maximum voltages: core-PG 600 V (aux power) and 700 V (AS-Interface); core-core 40 V (aux) and 50 V (AS-i). These are the withstand limits the module clamps against — not operating voltages.
