I/O configuration and addressing
The Siemens 3RK2400-1HQ00-0AA3 is a K60 compact digital I/O module rated IP67 for direct field installation on a machine frame or conveyor line. It provides 8 PNP inputs and 2 outputs across eight M12 sockets, but critically it consumes two AS-Interface addresses — address 1 carries inputs IN1 through IN4 (sockets 1–4), and address 2 carries the remaining inputs plus both outputs (sockets 5–8). This dual-address footprint matters when planning your AS-i network node count; a standard single-address module would leave you one slot short on a 31-slab master.
Output supply and wiring constraints
Output circuits require an external auxiliary supply (AUX POWER) of 20 to 30 V DC, compliant with VDE 0106 (PELV), protection class III. This is not a self-powered module — the AS-Interface cable powers the sensor supply and the module electronics, but the two outputs draw from a separate 24 V DC feed. Plan for a dedicated PELV-rated power source in the panel or junction box. The module's input circuit is PNP transistor type; each input signal requires a minimum of 6 mA to be detected as a logical 1.
Mounting and environmental rating
The 60 mm × 152 mm × 29 mm footprint fits alongside other K60 blocks in a distributed I/O cabinet or field box. IP67 protection means the module withstands washdown and dust ingress; suitable for food-and-beverage lines, conveyor systems, or outdoor material handling where a panel-mounted I/O would be impractical.
Status indication and protection
Each I/O channel has a yellow LED for state indication; a green LED signals that the external AUX supply is present. Built-in watchdog and short-circuit protection on the outputs reduce the risk of a field-device fault taking down the module. The front addressing socket lets you set the AS-i address without opening the housing — useful during commissioning swaps.
