The Siemens 3RK3141-2CD10 is a PROFIsafe/ASIsafe F-Link gateway — it bridges a PROFIBUS safety controller to an AS-Interface safety network (ASIsafe). That means a safety PLC on PROFIBUS can talk to AS-i safety slaves (emergency stops, light curtains, safety mats) through this single module.
Rated category 4 per EN 954-1, this gateway supports the highest architectural category under that standard — redundant channels with cross-monitoring, so a single fault cannot cause loss of the safety function. For a safety circuit guarding a robot cell or press, that category 4 rating is what lets you wire a single AS-i safety slave and still meet the control-reliable requirement.
PROFIBUS and AS-Interface — the protocol pair
On the fieldbus side it speaks PROFIBUS (not PROFINET — no PROFINET IO or CBA here). On the AS-Interface side it handles both standard AS-i and ASIsafe traffic. Galvanic isolation between the PROFIBUS and AS-i segments keeps ground loops from coupling into the safety bus. The module draws up to 100 mA from the 24 V DC supply when using AS-i Power24V.
The housing is 45 mm wide, 113 mm tall, 124 mm deep — IP20, so it belongs inside a clean, dry enclosure, not out on the plant floor. Power loss is 3 W, which matters if you're packing several of these in a row and sizing the enclosure ventilation.
