The 3RK4320-3AQ54-0BA2: It integrates motor protection, switching, and communication into a single device, reducing wiring and panel space compared to a contactor-plus-overload-relay combination. The 3-pole main circuit handles the motor current, while the control supply runs on 20.4–26.4 V DC.
Panel fit and mounting flexibility
Dimensions are 205 mm deep, 245 mm wide, and 215 mm high — a compact footprint for a motor starter with integrated bus communication and brake output. The unit mounts on a vertical surface and allows ±180° rotation and ±22.5° forward/backward tilt, giving flexibility in tight enclosures. Rated IP54, so it handles dust and splashing water in industrial environments.
AS-Interface integration and brake control
The starter communicates via AS-Interface protocol (no PROFIBUS or PROFINET onboard), with 2 digital inputs for local sensors or pushbuttons. It includes a motor brake output, allowing direct control of a holding brake without an external relay. Short-circuit protection is designed for use with circuit-breakers upstream, and the switching contacts are electromechanical — not solid-state. The unit is rated for up to 80 operating cycles per hour, which covers most conveyor and pump cycling applications.
