What this timer actually does
The Siemens 3RP1505-1AA40 is a SIRIUS multifunction timing relay covering ON-delay, OFF-delay, additive ON-delay and pulse-shaping from the same 22.5 mm housing — one part code absorbs four classic control-panel timing jobs instead of stocking separate ON, OFF and pulse modules. Coil runs on 24 VDC (the only listed rated control voltage on the data plate), so it drops directly onto the standard 24 V control rail that already feeds PLC outputs and contactor coils — no separate transformer stage.
Timing range and what it sets
Adjustable time spans 0.05–100 s on a single scale (initial 0.8, full-scale 1.1), and the minimum ON period of 35 ms with a 150 ms recovery time tells the integrator the relay is built for sub-second sequencing rather than hour-long process delays — read it as a control-circuit timer, not a long-duration process timer.
Contact rating in real load terms
One delayed SPDT relay output, 5 A thermal continuous, with the contact ratings tabulated at 1 A / 24 V, 0.2 A / 125 V and 0.1 A / 250 V — read those as the tested switching envelopes, not the absolute maximums; the 5 A thermal figure is the continuous-carry ceiling, and the lower switched-current values reflect what the silver-alloy contact reliably breaks at each voltage level.
Panel fit and mechanical install
Wiring accepts solid or stranded 20–14 AWG conductors, basic insulation rated for degree-of-pollution 3 environments, with operating ambient −25 … +60 °C and storage −40 … +85 °C — it survives an unheated panel section and a tropical control room alike.
