What this part is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1015-1AF02-ZX95 is a power contactor in the compact S00 frame size, designed for switching motor loads in control panels. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, with screw-type terminals for the main current circuit. Rated for 3 kW at 500 V and 4 kW at 690 V, this contactor handles typical three-phase induction motors in conveyor, pump, and fan applications. The AC-4 rating of 6.5 A at 400 V covers reversing and plugging duty cycles where the contactor makes and breaks motor current under load.
Panel fit and wiring
At 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm high, and 72 mm deep, the S00 frame packs tightly on the rail — side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple contactors without derating for heat buildup, as long as the ambient stays within -25 to +60 °C during operation. Screw terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid/stranded copper. For AWG, that's 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12. The front face carries IP20 finger-safe protection; the terminal area is also IP20, so standard panel wiring practices apply without extra shrouding.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor under short circuit), use a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A. For Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after a fault), the fuse can go up to 35 A. This matters when the panel design specifies coordination class — Type 2 keeps the contactor in service after a downstream fault. The contactor is rated for pollution degree 3, which covers industrial environments with conductive pollution or dry non-conductive pollution that becomes conductive due to condensation. Maximum operating altitude is 2,000 m without derating.
