What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1015-1AG62 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with screw-type terminals, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. It carries a 10 A rated value at 24 V, with AC-2 duty rated at 3 kW at 400 V and AC-4 duty at 6.5 A at 400 V — so it handles both starting and inching/plugging cycles on small induction motors up to that power class. Mounting is screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, with a compact footprint of 45 mm width, 57.5 mm height, and 72 mm depth — fits standard panel spacing without crowding adjacent devices. Side clearance requirement is only 6 mm, which helps when packing multiple contactors on a rail. Front and terminal protection is IP20, so it's suitable for enclosed panels where accidental finger contact is the concern, not washdown environments. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, adequate for most indoor industrial panels.
Terminal and wiring detail
Main circuit terminals accept solid or stranded conductors: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), and 1x 12. That covers standard motor and control wiring without needing special lugs.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor under short circuit), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A. For Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault), the fuse can be gL/gG 35 A. This matters when you're coordinating with motor protection breakers or fusible disconnects in the panel.
