What it is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1015-1AN22 is a size S00 power contactor for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. Its AC-3 rating of 4 kW at 690 V means it handles standard three-phase induction motors up to that power without welding the contacts on break. The AC-4 rating of 6.5 A at 400 V covers reversing or inching duty where the contactor makes and breaks stalled-rotor current — the tougher case. Mechanical life of 30 million cycles means this part outlasts the machine it's in for most light-duty conveyor or pump applications.
Mounting and wiring
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, or screws direct to a backplate. At 45 mm wide, it leaves room for auxiliary contact blocks or a second contactor in a reversing pair. Screw terminals on both main and auxiliary circuits — solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm², or AWG 20 to 12. Strip length is your call, but 8–10 mm is typical for these cages. Pollution degree 3 means it's fine in a standard industrial panel without conformal coating.
Coordination and protection
For type 2 coordination (no contactor welding on a short), Siemens calls for a 20 A gL/gG fuse. For type 1 coordination, a 35 A gL/gG fuse is enough. The coil draws 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V — standard AC/DC pickup values for this frame. Operating temperature range of -25 to +60 °C covers most indoor panel environments.
