What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1015-1AR02 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor — a compact, screw-terminal device for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. Its 24 VDC coil pulls in at the rated voltage and holds through the operating range of 0.8 to 1.1 times nominal at 50 Hz and 0.85 to 1.1 at 60 Hz. The main contacts are rated 10 A at 24 V for DC-12/DC-13 type loads, and 2 A at 60 V DC, 1 A at 110 V DC, and 0.3 A at 220 V DC — so it handles small DC motor brakes, solenoid valves, or holding magnets without an extra interposing relay. For AC motor duty, it delivers 3 kW at 400 V in AC-3 service and 6.5 A in AC-4 (plugging/inching). The S00 frame size (45 mm wide, 57.5 mm high, 72 mm deep) means it fits tightly on a DIN rail alongside other S00 gear — contactor, overload relay, and auxiliary block stack in about 90 mm of rail width.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Screw terminals accept 2x 0.5–1.5 mm², 2x 0.75–2.5 mm², or max 2x 0.75–4 mm² solid/stranded — no ferrule needed for the smaller sizes, but a ferrule helps on the 4 mm² max. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with 6 mm spacing to adjacent devices for heat dissipation. IP20 on the front and terminals means it's protected against finger contact but not washdown — standard for enclosed panel use. Ambient operating range of -25 to +60 °C covers most machine rooms and outdoor cabinets if not in direct sun.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no weld after fault), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A. For Type 1 (device may be damaged but no fire risk), use gL/gG 35 A. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation. The contactor has 0 instantaneous auxiliary contacts — if you need N.O./N.C. feedback for the PLC, you'll add a side-mount auxiliary block (e.g., 3RH1911-1FA22).
