What it is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1015-1AV02 is a Size S00 power contactor built for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. It's rated for 10 A operational current at AC-12 duty (resistive) at 24 V, and delivers 3 kW at AC-2 (slip-ring motor) or 3.5 kW at 500 V, 4 kW at 690 V for standard three-phase induction motors. The 24 VDC coil pulls in reliably across the full rated control range.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The 10 A AC-12 rating covers resistive heater or lighting banks up to that current. For motor duty, the AC-3 rating at 400 V is the one that governs most conveyor, pump, and fan starts — this contactor handles 3 kW at that voltage class. The AC-4 rating of 6.5 A at 400 V matters for reversing or inching applications where the contactor makes and breaks the motor at full load. Ambient temperature range of -25 to +60 °C means it can sit in an unheated enclosure on the plant floor or near a hot motor without derating — useful for mining and mill environments where the panel sees both winter cold and process heat. Size S00 frame keeps the footprint tight at 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, and 72 mm deep — fits standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 and allows side-by-side stacking for dense panel layouts.
Where it goes and how it connects
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Screw-type terminals on both main and auxiliary circuits accept solid or stranded copper: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12. IP20 finger-safe protection on the front and terminals means it's suitable for enclosed panels where operators might reach in for adjustments — no special guarding needed for incidental contact. Short-circuit protection requires a gL/gG fuse: 20 A for Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor), 35 A for Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault).
