Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1015-1BB41-ZW96 Power Contactor — S00 Frame, 24 VDC Coil
The Siemens 3RT1015-1BB41-ZW96 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame size, designed for switching motor loads and resistive circuits in industrial control panels. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, with a 45 mm width that fits standard enclosure layouts. The coil is rated at 24 VDC, with a closing and holding power of 3.3 W — a fixed DC magnet that holds steady without AC hum. Pick-up voltage is 0.85 x rated (20.4 V), drop-out at 0.1 x rated (2.4 V). That 3.3 W holding power means the coil stays cool in continuous duty, important for panels with limited ventilation. For main circuit switching, the contactor carries 10 A in AC-12 duty (resistive loads like heaters or lighting). In AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors) it handles 3 kW at 400 V; in AC-4 duty (plugging / inching) it switches 6.5 A at 400 V. The AC-4 rating is the one to watch for frequent reversing or jogging applications — it's the thermal limit under severe switching. Auxiliary contact block: one instantaneous normally-open contact is built in. For additional aux contacts, the S00 frame accepts side-mounting blocks — the 6 mm side clearance on each side allows stacking without extra spacing.
Mounting and Wiring
Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid/stranded — AWG equivalents 2x (20–16), 2x (18–14), 1x 12. The terminal design allows two conductors per clamp, useful for daisy-chaining control wiring without extra junction blocks. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with zero gap between units, saving rail space. The IP20 finger-safe front terminals meet standard panel protection requirements; the open-front design means the terminals are touch-safe only when wired inside an enclosure. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with storage down to -55 °C. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution, typical for industrial environments) is accommodated — no conformal coating required for most factory floors.
