What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT1015-1BB41-ZW98 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact Size S00 frame — 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, 72 mm deep. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 or screws directly to a panel, so it drops into any standard control cabinet without extra bracketry. The 24 VDC coil draws 3.3 W for both pick-up and hold. Pick-up threshold is 0.85 x rated, drop-out at 1.1 x rated. Main contacts are rated 10 A at AC-12 (resistive), 6.5 A at AC-4 (plugging/inching) on 400 V, and 3 kW at AC-2 on 400 V. That covers small motor switching, resistive heater banks, and frequent reversing duty within the S00 thermal budget.
Termination and coordination
Screw terminals accept 2 x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2 x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2 x (0.75 to 4 mm²) stranded — solid or ferruled. AWG equivalents are 2 x (20 to 16), 2 x (18 to 14), and a single 12 AWG. Strip length follows the terminal design; no special crimp tool needed beyond standard screwdriver. Type 1 coordination calls for a 35 A gL/gG fuse upstream; Type 2 coordination requires a 20 A gL/gG fuse. That gives the panel builder a clear choice between fault-clearing-only (Type 1) or contactor survival after a short (Type 2).
Environmental and lifecycle
Rated for operation from -25 °C to +60 °C, with pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution typical in industrial panels). IP20 on the front and terminals means finger-safe but not washdown — keep it inside a sealed enclosure. Altitude limit is 2 000 m without derating. Mechanical endurance is rated at 30 million operations typical, so it outlasts most panel revisions in light-duty cycling.
