The Siemens 3RT1015-1KB42-ZW98 is a SIRIUS power contactor in frame size S00, rated for switching motor loads up to 4 kW at 690 V. The 24 VDC coil pulls in at 0.7x rated voltage (about 16.8 V) and drops out below that threshold, with a holding power of 2.3 W DC — a clean, low-hold design that keeps the panel cool in dense DIN-rail layouts. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5... 1.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.75... 2.5 mm²) stranded, max 2x (0.75... 4 mm²), so it lands comfortably on standard motor-circuit wiring without needing ferrule adapters.
Duty ratings and coordination
AC-3 switching at 400 V delivers 3 kW (the typical motor-starting duty), while AC-4 at the same voltage handles 6.5 A for reversing or inching applications where the contacts break full-load current. For resistive loads (AC-1), the contactor is rated 10 A at 24 V and 6 A at 230 V. Type 2 coordination requires a 20 A gL/gG fuse; Type 1 allows a 35 A gL/gG fuse — the higher fuse rating sacrifices the contactor in a fault but keeps the upstream breaker smaller. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution) means this contactor is suited for industrial enclosures where some dust and condensation are present, not for clean-room or sealed environments.
Mounting and panel fit
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. The 45 mm width and 57.5 mm height fit the S00 footprint — the smallest SIRIUS contactor frame. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with no derating, so you can gang multiple contactors on the same rail. The 72 mm depth leaves clearance for wiring ducts and front-panel doors. Ambient range is -25 to +60 °C during operation, with a maximum installation altitude of 2 000 m.
