The AC-3 category means it switches motors under running conditions, not starting inrush — so the motor's full-load current, not its locked-rotor current, governs the selection. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, or 2x (24... 14) AWG. No screw torque to check — just strip and push.
For frequent switching (e.g., conveyor reversals or pump cycling), the electrical life at the actual load current will be lower, but the mechanical figure tells you the actuator won't wear out before the contacts do. That suits industrial environments where dust, moisture, or condensation are present — typical for a factory-floor panel. IP20 on the front and at the terminal area means finger-safe from the front but not sealed against water — fine inside a locked cabinet, not for washdown zones. That difference matters when sizing the branch circuit protection — Type 2 keeps the contactor in service after a fault, Type 1 does not.
