What it is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1015-2AP02-1AA0 is a size S00 power contactor built for switching motor loads in control panels. Its 230 V coil handles both 50 Hz and 60 Hz supply without a changeout. Rated for AC-2 duty at 3 kW on 400 V, it handles wound-rotor motors and moderate switching frequencies. The AC-4 rating of 6.5 A at 400 V covers reversing and inching applications where the contactor makes and breaks stalled-rotor current.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, or screws directly to a backplate. The 45 mm wide by 60 mm tall footprint fits standard S00 slot in a panel layout. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with no derating for heat buildup, which keeps the fill factor tight on a crowded rail. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded — no screw torque to check, just strip to 8 mm and push in.
Coordination and protection
For type 2 coordination — where the contactor stays functional after a short-circuit — Siemens calls for a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A. Type 1 coordination steps that up to 35 A, meaning the contactor may need replacement after a fault but the rest of the panel survives. Pollution degree 3 rating means it's fit for industrial environments with conductive dust or condensation, common in motor control centers.
