SIRIUS S00 power contactor — what it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT1015-2AV02 is a SIRIUS-brand S00-frame power contactor rated for motor switching at 3 kW on a 400 V AC 50/60 Hz line. The S00 frame is the smallest in the SIRIUS contactor family, sized for light-to-medium motor loads up to around 4 kW at 690 V. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 using either screws or the snap-on latch — typical for compact control panels where panel depth is tight. The 73 mm depth plus 45 mm width means it fits standard 45 mm-wide DIN-rail slots without overhang.
Spring-cage terminals and wiring
Main circuit connections use spring-loaded terminals (spring-cage) accepting 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire — AWG 24 to 14. The spring-cage design gives a vibration-resistant connection without re-torquing, useful in high-vibration environments like conveyor drives or compressor panels. No screwdriver needed for the wire entry; a small screwdriver releases the clamp for removal. The IP20 finger-safe rating on the front and terminals means the contactor can be mounted in an open panel without additional touch protection for qualified personnel.
Motor duty ratings and auxiliary contact capacity
In AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors, starting/stopping) at 400 V, the contactor is rated for 3 kW. In AC-4 duty (plugging, inching, reversing) at 400 V, the rated operational current is 6.5 A — a more demanding duty cycle than AC-3, so the AC-4 figure governs for frequent reversing or jogging applications. The auxiliary contact block handles 10 A at 24 V (AC-12), 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V — enough for PLC-level control signals or relay coils. For motor loads in AC-3 duty, the 3 kW rating at 400 V covers typical 4-pole induction motors up to that shaft power.
