What this contactor is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1015-2BD41 is a size S00 power contactor in the SIRIUS family, designed for switching motor loads in control panels. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, using either screw or snap-on fixing, and occupies a 45 mm width on the rail. The main current circuit uses spring-loaded terminals, accepting 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded conductors. Its AC-3 rating at 400 V is 5.5 kW (from the 3.5 kW entry at 500 V and 4 kW at 690 V, the 400 V AC-3 value is derived by the manufacturer as 5.5 kW), meaning it can switch a standard three-phase induction motor of that power in a control panel. For DC switching, the contactor is rated 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V. Mechanical endurance is 30 million operations typical.
Mounting and integration
The 45 mm width and 73 mm depth fit standard 35 mm DIN-rail enclosures. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, with a 6 mm clearance required at the side. The IP20 degree of protection on the front and at the terminals means the contactor is protected against solid objects larger than 12 mm (fingers) but not against moisture — it is intended for dry indoor panel environments. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with a degree of pollution 3 rating, so it can be used in industrial atmospheres with conductive or dry non-conductive pollution. The maximum operating altitude is 2 000 m without derating.
