What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1015-2HB42-ZX95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in frame size S00, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022, fitting into a 45 mm wide footprint. The coil is rated 24 V DC, drawing 2.3 W for both closing and holding — a constant-power solenoid that simplifies the DC supply sizing. The main contacts are spring-loaded terminals accepting 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, or 2x (24... 14) AWG.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The headline rating is 10 A at AC-12 (resistive load), which is the maximum continuous current the main contacts can carry in that duty class. For motor switching, the AC-3 rating at 400 V is 3 kW (about 6.5 A), and at 690 V it reaches 4 kW — so this contactor is sized for small three-phase motors up to roughly 4 kW at line voltage. Short-circuit coordination is specified: with type 2 coordination, use a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A; with type 1 coordination, 35 A. This tells the panel builder what upstream protection preserves the contactor after a fault. The auxiliary contact block is rated for switching at various control voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V DC — covering both AC and DC control circuits. The contactor is rated for a mechanical service life of 30 million operations typical, and operates in ambient temperatures from -25 to +60 °C. IP20 protection on the front and terminals means it is suitable for enclosed panel use only — not for washdown or outdoor exposure.
Mounting and integration
Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, screw or snap-on. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, with a 6 mm clearance to the side for heat dissipation. The 45 mm width and 73 mm depth fit standard panel layouts. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit reduce wiring time — no screw tightening, just strip 8 mm and push in. The auxiliary contact block uses the same terminal type, keeping the wiring method consistent across the device.
